Experience

I hold the belief that how well a student can learn depends on their environment and how the material is presented to them. It is the job of a teacher to learn the way each student best receives knowledge plus how much of the information is retained. My education includes a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a master's degree in Education, both earned from the University of Houston. I also attended the University of Phoenix. I have lived in Southeastern and Southwestern states of the U.S. I have even lived in Hawaii. I taught special education students for several years. This experience has helped me to identify deficit areas of learning for some pupils. I have developed specialized methods of study that students can use to improve their learning abilities. These teaching techniques have helped a number of my students achieve higher test scores on standardized tests. English subjects I tutor include reading, phonics, literature, grammar, and public speaking. Some of the composition courses I cover are fiction writing, creative writing, poetry, persuasive writing, and analytical writing. I can tutor French. I am qualified to tutor in social studies, psychology, and sociology. I have experience helping students prepare for standardized testing in the ACT, SAT, CLEP, GRE, and LSAT. I like reading and home improvements as hobbies.
